Jacuzzi is one of the best-known brands of bathtub. In fact, they have such a large mindshare that many people think of any jetted tub as a “jacuzzi.” Whether that’s a good thing or not is debatable, but the fact is Jacuzzi is a brand name – and they’re one of the best types of bathtub you can buy.
A Little History About Jacuzzi
Jacuzzi’s first product in the bathroom fixtures market was a submersible bathtub pump they called the J-300. Candido Jacuzzi – one of the brothers who owned the company – used their expertise in pumps to design the J-300 as a way to help his son Kenneth, who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis.
The pump became popular with some Hollywood stars of the day, and the company started to become more and more famous. The first of many Jacuzzi bathtubs was introduced in 1968, the first fully contained tub with integrated jets.
They quickly became a symbol of a luxurious lifestyle in places like Hollywood. But in the intervening years, Jacuzzi has produced many more styles and models and the prices have dropped to the point where they are affordable for the typical homeowner.
Jacuzzi Tub Experiences
Most Jacuzzi bathtubs can be configured with any of their four bath “experiences” which include:
- Soaking Bath
- Pure Air
- Salon Spa
The Soaking Bath is their traditional experience. No jets or other types of massage, just a simple tub in which you can soak away your cares. The Whirlpool is the Jacuzzi experience that most people are familiar with. It harkens back to the original tub they introduced in 1968, with massage jets that shoot a 50/50 mix of air and water into the bath.
Their Pure Air models have jets that shoot only air into the bath, making for more of an effervescent experience rather than a pressurized massage. And Jacuzzi’s Salon Spa experience lets you choose between Whirlpool or Pure Air, depending on your desire at any given time.
Today’s Jacuzzi Tubs
Jacuzzi has a wide range of tubs that are designed to suit different needs:
Their tubs come in many shapes and sizes, to suit almost any style of bathroom decor. These styles are available in various combinations. For example, the Jacuzzi Allusion series – one of their Luxury models – is a rectangular drop-in tub that comes in three different sizes.
It can be ordered with a number of options, including the four experiences mentioned above. You can also choose a standard motor or a “whisper” motor that reduces the noise and vibration. And there are different trims available, for things like the drain, the jet rings and even lighting for the jets themselves. They even have different remote controls to operate the tub, depending on just what you prefer.
The Luxury series, such as the Duetta and Elara, has the most contemporary designs, made to fit into a modern bathroom design. As you might expect, they come with all the bells and whistles that Jacuzzi can offer.
The comfort series, such as the Amiga and Luna, are designed to fit into virtually any bathroom, from the most simple design to any contemporary layout. They’re designed with comfort as the first priority, and tend to have less radical shapes than the luxury models.
You may also see Jacuzzi Primo tubs mentioned when doing your research. This is a brand they make exclusively for Lowe’s Home Centers, and they are not available elsewhere.
Specialty Jacuzzi Tubs
Jacuzzi also makes some more specialty bathtubs such as the Era Slipper, an old-fashioned looking freestanding clawfoot tub, and the Finestra walk-in bathtub. These tubs offer all the same features as their standard tubs, but in a more specialized package.
Several of their models are also available as corner tubs so if you’re working with a limited amount of space for your bathroom remodeling project one of those tubs might be a better fit.
As you can see, Jacuzzi offers a wide range of bathtubs with something to suit virtually any need. And because they are such a large and well-known brand, you can rest assured that warrant and repair are not going to be a problem if you do ever have a problem.
If you want to get the most out of your bath experience, you can’t go wrong by choosing a Jacuzzi brand tub.
